Go Medical Clinic LLC was founded in Tampa in 2023 by George Layton and Gilbert Hernandez. Driven by a deep dissatisfaction with the rushed and impersonal nature of traditional healthcare practices, Gilbert and George envisioned a clinic where patients are truly valued, treated with the same care and attention that one would give to a family member. This focus on quality over quantity is the cornerstone of Go Medical Clinic's approach to healthcare

George Layton

MD

George Layton, MD, has dedicated his professional career to providing care and public health to the medically indigent and underserved.

Dr. Layton's health career began in the emergency department as a teenager, igniting a passion that grew stronger over the years. His experience extends beyond medical practice, as he delved into hospital administration and behavioral health, showcasing his diverse expertise.

He sought to further his education and studied medicine at the Universidad Iberoamericana in the Dominican Republic, where he met his life partner, Cynthia Tejada Layton.

He returned and began his career at the South Texas Poison with the University of Texas Health San Antonio. During his 15 years, he provided medical advice for lay public callers and healthcare providers, and he became a teacher, mentor, and enthusiastic researcher. During this tenure, he became an exhaustive educator for pharmacy and medical students, specialists in training, paramedics, and medical residents. He is an accomplished researcher, has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, and has presented at national and international conferences in Medical Toxicology.

He later attained his Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, which furthered his leadership role and consistently positive team-building and leadership skills among his peers.

He later sought medical training and completed a medical internship at HIMA San Pablo Cupey in Puerto Rico. He provided much-needed care and advocated for improving care during the beginning and uncertain times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

After obtaining his Florida license in 2020, Dr. Layton began his career in primary care medicine in Tampa, Florida with Cano Health. With his integrity, dedication, leadership, and care for his patients, he was promoted to Medical Director and later to District Medical Director. He mentored and guided established and new physicians to meet these pre-established key performance indicators. He and his team not only excelled but far surpassed the organization.

He is now taking on a new venture and opening his shared private practice, where he can further dedicate time and care to our seniors and vulnerable populations.

Dr. Layton enjoys spending time with his wife and family and traveling.

His fluency in English and Spanish allows him to connect with diverse patients, making him a truly global healthcare professional.

Gilbert Hernandez

APRN FNP-BC

Gilbert Hernandez, APRN FNP-BC, has dedicated his life to helping others through a diverse and rewarding career in healthcare that spans over 26 years. Gilbert's journey began with a 16-year tenure as a Paramedic Firefighter, where he developed a deep commitment to providing care in critical situations. His passion for making a difference led him to further his education and transition into nursing, where he worked in the Neuro/Trauma ICU at St. Joseph’s Hospital Main.

While serving as a nurse, Gilbert continued his education, ultimately becoming a nurse practitioner. For the past five years, he has been practicing as a Primary Care Provider, earning the trust and respect of the greater Tampa community. Gilbert's approach to healthcare is deeply personal, driven by the meaningful connections he builds with his patients and his dedication to keeping them healthy and thriving.

Aside from his professional life, Gilbert enjoys jiu-jitsu, traveling, and spending quality time with his family. His love for these activities reflects his belief in maintaining balance and well-being in all aspects of life.
